Chill Out Sunday Makes: Topiary Tree and Caravaning!

Topiary Tree.

Today I made my second Paper Topiary Tree, the first I made last week and had to correct a few issues.  Today,  this one went well no issues, at least crafty ones:  I did manage to stand on the plug of my glue gun with my bare foot; ouch! (that's not actually what I said, but you get the picture).

What do you need :  Styrofoam ball; 6mm dowel, quick dry cement, high gsm card for the planter and lower gsm paper to make paper flowers; a glue gun, decorative tacking pins and Tacky Glue.
Here is todays:

Vintage Caravan

With all the talk of Glastonbury and of course up and coming local music festivals Eden and Wickerman, I have been thinking about Glamping and Caravaning.    So here's my take on a my 1970's and 80's holidays in a little tin can with my parents and big sisters - off we'd go to Aviemore, Abba (or Lena Martell if we lost out to Mum)  on the 'tape deck' and me stuck in the back between sisters, one foot either side of the centre console, plastic bag in hand, just in case!

All the Fun of the Fair!

I love this project and to date have made three of these Ferris Wheels in different designs.  Another SVG Cuts Design. I'm a bit rubbish and remembering to photograph everything I make, one of the reasons I decided to blog, hopefully will be better at remembering so I can post!

These are fully functional, both the carriages and the wheel rotate.  They can't hold heavy objects, but mini marshmallows, flying saucers (you know, the sherbet ones) etc. do work.  Great kids bedroom ornament , Birthday Party or Wedding table centre- pieces. (imagine it in black and white - very elegant).

Fr the crafters out there, the 12 x 12 papers here are DCWV -' Glitter stack' and 'All chalked up'.  The epoxy stickers are from my stash (of which my husband will tell you there is a lot), they are K& Co.  My friends are great at keeping me bits and bobs of ribbons etc, this pink ribbon came courtesy of BFF Jude.  Thanks Hon!  8mm dowel assist everything to move, purchased in Stranraer itself at Home Hardware/ Gardens.   The last thing needed is glue and I just don't think you can beat Anita's Tacky Glue. which I buy from Crafts U Love online.

About 5 hours work in each one.

We're half way to Christmas, it's official!

We're half way to Christmas , it's official and that means it's time for crafters to start preparing!  Here's my first Christmas project of the 2013 season.  Over the next few weeks there should be more to follow.  Hoping to make Ballet slippers tree ornament, Advent Boxes, a 3D Christmas scene and of course about 50 cards will be required.

Time for Tea

This 3D Tea Pot , plus cup saucer and spoon has the feel of Alice in Wonderland.  Ideal to hold your tea bags and sugar lumps in!

Files courtesy of SVG Cuts.  Made with 12 x 12 scrap book papers, tacky glue and a lot of patience.

Blogging: A whole new thing for me

Hi, my name is Mhairi, yep I'm sure like all the other people I have met in my 41 years on this planet that confused you.  Well it's a gaelic name, I'm Scottish.  It's pronounced Vari - just like in vari-cose veins (I'm also a nurse, so this has been the easiest way of explaining my name for a good few years now!).  I love my day job, but for calming relief, I am also a passionate papercrafter.

Having had so many people comment on their papercraft gifts from me in the last few years I have decided to bite the bullet and create a blog to keep a track of as well as show off some of my makes.  I hope you like them.  I hope to add to the blog weekly as most of my makes occur at weekends.  Below you'll find a few makes from the past few years.

A special mention here goes to SVG cuts a fantatic design team where I get a lot of inspiration and designs
